Ferry service on Chandpur-Shariatpur route resumed on Monday morning after nearly six hours of suspension due to dense fog in the River Meghna.

The authorities concerned were forced to halt the ferry services from 3:00am to 9:00am on Monday to avert possible accidents.

Hundreds of vehicles waiting to cross the river remained stuck at the both ends of the river, causing suffering to passengers.

Faisal Alam Chowdhury, manager of Harina ferry ghat in Chandpur, said that the ferry service resumed at about 9:00am after the invisibility caused by the dense fog improved.

On the other hand, launches operating on the Dhaka-Chandpur route were taking more travel time than usual due to the dense fog in the river, said passengers.
